DETROIT (WWJ) -- Viral video footage showing a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) worker at Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) jerking around a bomb-sniffing dog on a leash sparked anger online and led to an investigation into the canine handler's behavior.

The video first appeared in the r/Delta community on Reddit, posted by user ProfessionalEye3568. In the footage, a TSA agent is walking back and forth with the dog, who is an explosive detection canine at DTW. At each turn, the worker yanks the dog around before it can turn to walk with him.

"This isn’t delta specific," wrote the user, "but filmed from the sky club at DTW."

"I was shocked at how this airport handler is dragging this poor pup around. There’s no reason anyone should be flipping a working dog around by it’s harness like this?!"

The user continued, saying that they have a high energy dog and at first thought the tugging was a mistake. After a few more tugs, though, they felt the handler was "just being unnecessarily rough."

In the comments, users decried the aggressive treatment of the security pup with some suggesting they contact TSA directly.

Less than 24 hours after the video went viral, a TSA spokesperson told WXYZ that the handler's behavior was "unacceptable" and that he had been suspended from canine duty pending an investigation into the incident.

Although the dog did not appear be hurt, TSA said a wellness exam was scheduled with a veterinarian to check for injury.
