Reynolds posted a heartfelt message to his Instagram account aiming to raise awareness for Mental Health Awareness Month by sharing his struggles with anxiety.
“May is almost over. It’s also Mental Health Awareness month. Which brings me to this,” he wrote.
“One of the reasons I'm posting this so late is I overschedule [sic] myself and important things slip. And one of the reasons I overschedule myself is my lifelong pal, anxiety," Ryenolds added.
"I know I'm not alone and more importantly, to all those like me who overschedule, overthink, overwork, over-worry and over-everything, please know you're not alone. We don't talk enough about mental health and don't do enough to destigmatize talking about it. But, as with this point, better late than never, I hope..."
Reynolds, whose charm and confidence have made him a hit on the big screen, is seeking to show others that it's ok not to be ok. By bringing forth his struggles with anxiety, he’s hoping to open up the conversation surrounding mental health and to let others know they aren’t alone.
The actor’s longtime “rival” (and it's a rivalry in the friendliest sense), Hugh Jackman, left a comment on Reynolds’ post.
“Mate- your honesty is not only brave but, I’m positive will help countless others who struggle with anxiety too. Good on you!” Jackman wrote.
