Kansas State has dismissed head coach Jerome Tang in his fourth season, according to a source, just days after his emotional postgame comments gained widespread attention.

The move follows a 91-62 home loss to Cincinnati, after which Tang publicly criticized his team and called the performance “embarrassing.” The Wildcats then fell 78-64 to No. 3 Houston, a game in which player names were removed from the backs of jerseys.

Kansas State sits at 10-15 overall and 1-11 in Big 12 play, marking one of the program’s worst seasons in more than two decades. Despite heavy spending in the transfer portal, the team appears headed for a second straight losing record.

The school is expected to attempt to fire Tang for cause. His contract reportedly includes a buyout exceeding $18 million.

Tang compiled a 71-57 record during his tenure, highlighted by a 26-10 campaign and an Elite Eight appearance in his first season leading the Wildcats.
