
The season came to an end Sunday afternoon for the Kansas City Royals, with a 7-3 loss at Kauffman Stadium to the Minnesota Twins.

Minnesota salted it away early, with five runs in the top of the first inning; Royals games this season were heard live on 97.5 & 1240 KFH.
Royals catcher Salvador Perez put up monster numbers on the season, especially during a blistering couple of months after the All-Star break. Perez finished the season with 48 home runs, tying Jorge Soler from 2019 for the all-time single-season Royals franchise record. Perez's total also tied Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., of the Toronto Blue Jays for the most home runs in the Major Leagues.
Perez also drove in 121 runs on the season, the most in Major League Baseball.
The Royals finished the season with a record of 74-88, for fourth place in the American League Central division. The Royals won 45% of their games this season, and have now improved their winning percentage for a third straight year.
KC was markedly better down the stretch, with a record of 38-35 after the All-Star break.
