The Kansas Jayhawks are headed into uncharted territory.
After winning the Lawrence Regional, Kansas will host Oklahoma in the program’s first-ever NCAA Super Regional at Hoglund Ballpark. The matchup became official when the Sooners rallied past Georgia Tech 8-7 in 10 innings on Monday, setting up a showdown between the former Big 12 rivals.
Kansas earned its spot by capturing the Lawrence Regional and defeating Arkansas 13-10 on Sunday. The victory marked the Jayhawks’ first Super Regional berth since the NCAA adopted the current format in 1999. More than 4,000 fans packed Hoglund Ballpark as KU rallied from an early five-run deficit to secure the historic win.
The Jayhawks, the tournament’s No. 15 national seed, swept through their regional and will now host the best-of-three series in Lawrence. The winner will advance to the Men’s College World Series in Omaha.
Oklahoma advanced in dramatic fashion, erasing a late deficit against Georgia Tech before a walk-off home run in the 10th inning sent the Sooners to Lawrence.
The Super Regional is scheduled to begin June 5, with game times and television information to be announced by the NCAA.
