Where You Can Watch Drive-In Concerts Across the Country
The live music experience is returning in a different formDrive-in concerts are beginning to emerge as a suitable live music experience.
With social distancing efforts in place and large gatherings prohibited for the foreseeable future, artists itching to perform again have started making plans to do so.
Here’s a look at where drive-in concerts are taking places across the country and how you can watch them.
Kane Brown
A brand new, never before seen performance from Kane Brown will air at drive-in theaters across the United States and Canada on Saturday, September 26.
Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, Blackberry Smoke, Indigo Girls, and Yacht Rock Revue
Live Nation announced the next installment in their drive-in concert series. The shows will take place at the Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, GA. Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit will perform on October 16, Blackberry Smoke on October 17, Indigo Girls on October 23, and Yacht Rock Revue on October 24.
Metallica
Metallica brought a special concert to drive-in theaters across the nation on August 29.
The Avett Brothers
The Avett Brothers will be performing performed a drive-in concert at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on August 29. While tickets are sold out, you can watch the stream on Nugs.net.
Chris Janson, Jordan Davis, and Mitchell Tenpenny
The trio of country musicians will be performing an acoustic set of music in the parking lot of the Allen County War Memorial Museum in Fort Wayne, IN on September 25.
Dark Star Orchestra
The Grateful Dead tribute act performed a drive-in concert at the Roseland Drive-In in Canandaigua, New York on September 4. On September 5 and 6, they’ll head to Philadelphia to perform two concerts at the Citizens Bank Park parking lot.
AJR, Mt. Joy, The Struts, and More
Live Nation teamed up with the Philadelphia Phillies to present the Live-In Drive-In series at Citizens Bank Park’s parking lot. Acts scheduled to perform include AJR, Mt. Joy, The Struts, Bert Kreischer, and more.
Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and Trace Adkins
Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and Trace Adkins put on a special performance that was shown at drive-in theaters across the U.S. and Canada on July 25.
Don Sampson and Jim “Moose” Brown, Scotty McCreery, and Old Crow Medicine Show
The Landers Center in Southhaven, MS hosted a drive-in concert series featuring Don Sampson and Jim “Moose” Brown on July 30, Scotty McCreery and J.R. Moore on July 31, and Old Crow Medicine Show on August 1.
Big Gigantic
Big Gigantic and Manic Focus came to the McHenry Outdoor Theater in McHenry, IL on Saturday, July 11.
Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, Nelly, and Jon Pardi
Live Nation announced their first ever drive-in concert series featuring Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, Nelly, and Jon Pardi. The series took place July 10-12 in Indianapolis, Nashville, and St. Louis.
Local H
The Chicago alt-rockers performed a pair of drive-in concerts at the Harvest Moon Drive-In Theater in Gibson City, IL.
Garth Brooks
Garth Brooks announced a massive concert taking place at over 300 drive-in theaters across North America. The show took place on June 27 as each theater will be screening his performance.
Los Lobos
East Los Angeles rocker Los Lobos took part in a drive-in concert at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, California on July 4th. The concert will be able to hold around 350 cars with golf carts zipping around providing food, drinks, and merchandise.
Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes
Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes performed at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport, New Jersey on July 11. There’s been speculation that Bruce Springsteen might pop by for a guest appearance as he's performed in the past with Southside Johnny and lives in Asbury Park, which is only eight miles from the racetrack.
D-Nice
The Club Quarantine star held a drive-in DJ set in Miami on May 16th as he performed for first responders. Fans were able to stream the set with donations benefitting the First Responders Children’s Foundation.
Alan Jackson
Alan Jackson held a pair of drive-in concerts in Alabama. On June 5, he’ll perform at the Rock the South Festival in Cullman and at Oak Hollow Farm in Fairhope on June 6.
Spafford
The jam band performed a two-set drive-in concert at the Digital Drive-In in Mesa, Arizona over the Memorial Day weekend.
Keith Urban
Urban held a drive-in concert just outside of Nashville to honor first responders from Vanderbilt Health. While it remains to be seen if he’ll hold another show, he was one of the first major acts to take part in the drive-in concert experience.
Eli Young Band
Eli Young Band was one of the first acts to announce a drive-in concert as they performed in the Concert in Your Car series at Global Life Field Stadium in Arlington, Texas on June 4.
Marc Rebillet
Rebillet will be taking his show on the road as he announced a full drive-in concert tour with stops in Charlotte, Kansas City, Tulsa, Fort Worth, and Houston.
The Road Rave
Unlike the other listings, this one is a little bit different. It’s a music festival! The festival took place in Orlando on June 6th and features performances from Carnage, Riot Ten, Blunts & Blondes, Nitti Gritti, and Gravedgr.
Concert In Your Car
As we mentioned above, Eli Young Band is taking part in this series hosted in the parking lot of the Texas Rangers ballpark. It’s a multi-day affair with two shows per day. Whiskey Myers, Pat Green, and Josh Abbott Band & Kevin Fowler are the other artists scheduled to perform.
