(KNX 1070) - An attorney claims there is proof that Los Angeles Unified School District knew about a child molester who worked at one school but promoted and transferred him to another school where he molested again.

In a statement, LAUSD said while it could not comment on pending litigation, it has enhanced training for recognizing and reporting suspected abuse and that student safety remains its top priority.

The attorney, Luis Carrillo, wants the judge to order the release of confidential documents that he says prove school district officials knew about Ronnie Lee Roman a long time ago when he was a coach at Vine Elementary School.

"The school district knew what the pervert did to a child and it was gross what he did to her," Carrillo said.

Carrillo claims that despite having that knowledge, LAUSD transferred Roman to Cahuenga Elementary where he abused more girls.

"The LAUSD never protects the kids. The LAUSD protects the perverts," he said.

Ronnie Lee Roman was eventually convicted and sent to prison for 105 years.

But Carrillo insists a district official lied in court and failed to disclose that they knew about Roman’s behavior in 2002.

"They were hiding that document for 16 years," he said.

He says he’s going to try to get the document released publicly. A judge denied his request today.

He’s going to question the district employee, under oath,  to find out what he knew and when he knew it.
