A TV commercial director, who lost work because of the coronavirus pandemic, is now in the business of building planter boxes.
It wasn't something Raul Fernandez intended to make happen.
It started out as a project his wife had asked him to do and he finally had the time to devote to it.

"And I took a photo of them just because I thought they came out nice and I showed it some of my friends on my soccer team and a guy was like 'hey can I get some of those?' I said 'OK,' and I made him three of those," Fernandez said.
He then posted pictures of the planter boxes on Nextdoor in his area and it grew from there.
"It literally got to a place where I couldn't keep up with it," he said.
It blossomed at just the right time with people forced to stay home, and as he puts it – gardening became a thing.
It's now a full-fledged business called Victory Garden LA offering an array of planter boxes along with organic soil, irrigation kits and covers to keep out pests and critters.
Fernandez is also employing a number of fellow industry folks who were struggling so not only can he pay the bills, they can too.
