If you've walked into any major retailer or grocery store's cleaning products aisle in the last four months, chances are there are no more disinfecting wipes to scoop up.
Specifically, Clorox wipes, which has seen a shortage since the COVID-19 pandemic began earlier this year in the United States.
Clorox wipes are usually sold at Walmart, Target, grocery store chains and online retailers including Amazon.
According to CNN, customers can expect to see that shortage into 2021.
The CNN story reported that "Clorox's outgoing CEO Benno Dorer told Reuters that Clorox wipes, specifically, will be in short supply until next year."
According to the CNN story, "Clorox (CLX), which dominates the $1 billion disinfectant wipes market with a 45% market share, said it has aggressively ramped up production for its cleaning products, but it still won't be enough."
"'Disinfecting wipes, which are the hottest commodity in the business right now, will probably take longer because it's a very complex supply chain to make them,' Dorer said in the Yahoo Finance story.
According to the Yahoo Finance story, many of the wipes are made from a material that is in short supply - polyester spunlace - because it's used to make PPE including masks and medical gowns.
'That entire supply chain is stressed. ... We feel like it's probably going to take until 2021 before we're able to meet all the demand that we have,' Dorer said in the Yahoo Finance article.
