INDIO (CNS) - A man who gunned down two Palm Springs police officers who had responded to his family's home due to a domestic disturbance was sentenced to death today.
John Hernandez Felix, 28, was convicted in May of murder and other charges for the Oct. 8, 2016, killings of veteran Officer Jose Gilbert "Gil" Vega, 63, and rookie officer Lesley Zerebny, 27.
In addition to the death sentence for the murders, Felix was also sentenced to 368 years to life for the other counts, including attempted murder and unlawful possession of an assault weapon.
