Just hours after it became public that acclaimed political journalist Cokie Roberts died, President Donald Trump made his feelings about Roberts known.

When the president was asked about Roberts' death by CNN reporter Daniel Dale, Trump responded by complaining that the ABC News, three-time Emmy award-winning journalist, was not apt to give him favorable coverage.

“I never met her,” the president replied. “She never treated me nicely. But I would like to wish her family well. She was a professional and I respect professionals… never treated me well, but I certainly respect her as a professional.”

Roberts, who was inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame, died this week at 75 due to complications with breast cancer.
