LA County Sheriff’s detectives are searching for more victims of a suspected serial car thief.
Investigators say Jose Esquivel was arrested 14 times in the past several months in stolen cars.
"It appears he is stealing the cars for personal purposes and driving them but he may have had them stripped for parts as well so that's what we want like to investigate if there are additional vehicles," LA County Sheriff’s Capt. Martin Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez tells KNX Esquivel is now in jail after a judge set his bail at more than $500,000.
"Mr. Esquivel is not unique. We are investigating other cases with individuals maybe not quite to this number but who had have had multiple stolen vehicle arrests during the pandemic period," Rodriguez said.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of his recent alleged crime spree is urged to call law enforcement.
