Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey disclosed her office is continuing to crack down on scammers and price gouging during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Lacey made the announcement alongside the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors on Thursday, reported the LA Sentinel.

Since the spread of COVID-19 began, Lacey warned of scammers posting fake information online about treatments and local outbreaks.

The District Attorney’s office also offered tips to help the public ward off becoming a victim of fraud.

They advised the public not to click on links from unknown senders as they could load malware onto your devices and to stay vigilant regarding emails alleged to be from the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) or disease experts. To get the latest information, they urged users to go to the CDC’s official website.
