An Ohio man has been arrested and charged with making threats to Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Timothy J. Ireland, Jr., 41, was indicted in U.S. District Court in Toledo with one count of making interstate threats and possession of a firearm as a felon.
“She should be shot. Can’t fire me, my employer would load the gun for me,” Ireland supposedly wrote and posted to Facebook on July 23, according to an affidavit filed by a member of the Capitol Police.
“He stated he made the statements and was very proud of the post he made,” Ireland said when officers called to confront him about his post. “He also stated he has firearms and always carries them concealed.”
Ireland's Toledo home was searched by authorities who found three rounds of .32-caliber ammunition and four rounds of .45-caliber ammunition. An FBI criminal history check unveiled he had two outstanding warrants.
