Rideshare service Uber is rolling out its latest pilot program -- exclusively for its four-legged passengers.
The pilot program, called Uber Pet, as reported by Tech Crunch, will offer riders a way to alert the driver that a pet is coming along with them.
The new feature is available on October 16 in Austin, Denver, Nashville, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Tampa Bay.
Riders will be required to pay a surcharge for their pets, and drivers are allowed to decline riders with pets. Riders with service animals will not have to indicate ride options and can ride without the surcharge.
The new feature gives riders a "peace of mind so they know they'll be able to arrive at their destination with their pet, without any interruptions or surprises," according to People.
