Democratic political donor Ed Buck has been indicted in the overdose deaths of two people at his home by a federal grand jury Wednesday.

It's a five-count indictment alleging he provided methamphetamine to two men, Timothy Dean who overdosed and died in January and Gemmel Moore in July 2017.

Buck also faces three counts of providing meth to three more men. One of the men survived two overdoses last month.

The indictment alleges he “exerted power over his victims, often targeting vulnerable individuals who were destitute, homeless, and/or struggled with drug addiction, in order to exploit the relative wealth and power imbalance between them.

In September he was arrested after a third black man experienced a non-fatal overdose.

Buck was charged by the Los Angeles County district attorney with running a drug den.

The federal charges bring a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years if Buck is convicted, according to the AP.
