Attorney General Xavier Becerra filed a motion seeking a preliminary injunction as part of ongoing litigation he's heading up involving a coalition of 20 states.

He says it was timed because Customs and Border Protection is planning to start obligating funds through contracts, which are not CBP's dollars to spend.

If that were to happen, he says it would make it more difficult to restore the money.

Becerra says the Trump Administration is seeking to do would divert federal funding meant for law enforcement, drug suppression, and military construction projects.
