(KNX 1070/CNS) - Two Los Angeles City lawmakers are open to working on reforms - once all of the facts of a federal probe into suspected corruption related to development in the city - come to light.

Earlier this month, the FBI ws seeking evidence of possible bribery, extortion, money laundering and other crimes as part of a corruption investigation at City Hall focusing on huge real estate investments from Chinese companies.

LA City Councilman Mike Bonin is all for transparency when it comes communications between city officials and developers and he says:

"The issue is broader than that. There are controversial issues we deal with that don't have anything to do with development that are still something that I think transparency would benefit all of us," Bonin said.

Councilman Mitch O’Farrell doesn’t mind having the spotlight on what they do but he says, there needs to be a balance:

"If every single thing we do and every single conversation we have with everyone, no matter what their association, you will see progress in our neighborhoods come to a grinding halt. Because we have to have a space we are in where we can advocate and work in the best interests of our neighborhoods," O'Farrell said.

The federal investigation is looking at more than a dozen prominent city figures seeking evidence of everything from possible money laundering to bribery.

Both are eager to see the results of the investigation.
