Anyone caught misusing a disabled parking placard in Los Angeles will soon be hit with a stiff penalty.

For someone to use such a placard if it wasn't issued to them or if it's expired, lost or stolen is already prohibited, but that apparently hasn't stopped some people from doing it anyway.
That's why the LA City Council has moved to impose a $1,100 penalty on anyone caught misusing a disabled parking placard.
Councilman Bob Blumenfield spearheaded the ordinance.
The ordinance now goes to the mayor for his signature.
