(KNX 1070) -- Some mixed news for the Southern California real estate market.
While prices in January were up, sales were way down.
It's a dramatic nearly 16-percent drop in sales in Los Angeles County, compared to January of last year.
Things were even worse in Orange County, where sales were down more than 20 percent.
But, according to a report from Core Logic, home prices climbed by about 2 1/2 percent in L.A., and by about 1 1/2 percent in the O.C.
Andrew LePage is a research analyst with CoreLogic, he says there could be a bright side to this news.
LePage says the downturn in home sales last month may have been fueled by concerns that home prices might have peaked and uncertainty triggered by the partial federal government shutdown.
