(KNX 1070) - A 25-year-old Monrovia man has been arrested in connection with one in a series of suspicious fires in the city in less than two days.

He's been booked on suspicion of arson to a Little Free Library.

Officials say the two most serious fires - which did significant damage to two homes and another one under construction- remain under investigation.

A cat died in one of those fires and a man had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Officials say the series began yesterday with a small vegetation fire yesterday. That was followed by the fire in the book-sharing unit, then one that started in a house under construction on West Colorado Blvd. and damaged nearby homes and cars. Two homes and the one under construction have been red-tagged.

The estimated property damage and content loss from the fires is more than $1 million.

.@MonroviaPolice have detained a person of interest following four possible arson fires in the city in less than two days. "Different evidence that is collected in the early stages of this investigation led us to this individual," says Chief Alan Sanvictores. @KNX1070
