The Best Hotels Near the Superdome

Visitors attending a Saints game in New Orleans learn quickly you can never judge a hotel by its exterior. Many of the city’s most luxurious hotels hide within facades preserved from centuries past. Everything from a creole townhouse to a chandelier warehouse to the headquarters of a power company can now host visitors within steps of the Superdome. You’d never be able to find the right hotel simply by strolling the streets, so we rounded up the best places to stay for anyone popping into NOLA for a game or event at the Superdome.

Ace Hotel

Ensconced inside a relatively unassuming office building in the Central Business District, the Ace Hotel is a shock of art deco stylings and luxury amenities. The place is populated by chic visitors and hip locals, who come for the James Beard-nominated chefs, drinks by the rooftop pool, and all of the achingly Instagrammable rooms, which boast mid-century furnishings and the odd guitar here and there.

Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery

In case you’re wondering, a chandlery is a chandelier warehouse -- not only a great word, but the downright trendiest, most NOLA place for a hotel. Old No. 77 exudes industrial Southern cool, with rotating art galleries and the world class Compère Lapin restaurant. Equidistant from the stadium and the French Quarter, the hotel is perfectly located for anyone mixing a game at the Superdome with classic New Orleans tourist activities.

Catahoula Hotel

Unlike many of the developments around the CBD, Catahoula feels intimate and rustic by comparison thanks to its home inside a Creole townhouse. Despite the quiet setting, though, the hotel hosts a buzzy, cool kid crowd. The boutique’s 35 rooms are all unique, crafted around the building’s historic quirks, but the furnishings are entirely modern, giving the spaces a high-low, time traveling vibe. Far from traditional NOLA fare, the onsite restaurant Piscobar Kitchen rockets out of New Orleans in all directions, offering “plant-based flavors from traditional Taiwanese comfort foods through a 100% vegan lens.” Take that for what you will.

1- 1st luxury hotel to open in New Orleans in a generation. #TMinus1Day #NOPSIHotel

Nopsi Hotel

Taking over the home of power and transportation company New Orleans Public Service Inc, the Nopsi lobby welcomes guests with decorative vaulted ceilings and original terrazzo floor tiling from the 1920s. The throwback vibes continue through the hotel’s ornate dining spaces, but you’ll also find modern luxury at the Nopsi, with a killer rooftop pool and stunning views of the city’s Central Business District.

One night in New Orleans is never enough. Book two nights with us and receive 20% off your stay. bit.ly/troubadour20off

The Troubadour

Foregoing the usual turn of the century aesthetic found around town, the Troubadour opts for a different sort of vintage aesthetic, that of the 1970s. Original artwork by local artists evokes the era of rock and roll, mixing with modern comforts like bar carts and bluetooth speakers. The mishmash of trans-20th century decorations, diverse crowd and optimal CBD location mean the Troubadour can be anything you want it to be. It’s a total crowd pleaser.

The Roosevelt Hotel

The Roosevelt is hotel royalty in New Orleans. The dazzling lobby, outfitted with glittering chandeliers and mosaic floors, may actually blind you. The excessive luxury has attracted celebrities for decades, starting in the late 19th century as a beacon for jazz legends passing through town. A visit to the hotel’s Sazerac Bar, where bartenders invented famous drinks like the Ramos Gin Fizz, is nearly required for any drinker of good drinks. If you want to spend your days with the NFC South in utter luxury, you know where to go.
