Ahead of our broadcast this week, Lizzo spoke about using her platform to enact change but being mindful about solely relying on artists to make societal and political change.
“I’m in this position to give back,” shares the “Rumors” singer. She continues, “I’m a musician, I’m a singer, and it’s crazy because like singers seem to always be the people who push policy and try to make change. I feel like the people who are writing policy and politicians aren’t.”
Focused on the “betterment of people” as a whole, Lizzo notes, “I wish we could all get on the same page, politicians and you know…creative leaders in society, because then I think some real change would happen.”
I’m Listening is a 365-day-a-year initiative that aims to encourage those who are dealing with mental health issues to understand they are not alone, and once a year we pause on every Audacy station across the country to show it's okay not to be OK.
This year's I’m Listening will be hosted by Carson Daly (NBC’s Today show and The Voice) as well as pioneering psychologist and author, Dr. Alfiee M. Breland-Noble (The AAKOMA Project). Our star-studded guest lineup includes conversations with Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Doja Cat, Shakira, Justin Bieber, Cleveland Cavaliers' Kevin Love, Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, Jack Antonoff, and more.
