The crash was reported about 12:50 p.m. on the northbound side of the freeway south of Indiana Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene, said Margaret Stewart, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The collision occurred on the right side of northbound lanes, according to the CHP.

No other injuries were reported, according to Stewart, who said firefighters were assisting the recovery of the victim's body.

"Traffic on the northbound 5 Freeway will be heavily impacted and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes," Stewart said of the crash response, body recovery and investigation.
