Five people were injured and a person of interest was detained following an explosion at a Santa Maria courthouse on Wednesday.

The call came in around 8:48 a.m., according to Santa Barbara County Sheriff spokesperson Raquel Zick.
“Explosion was from an intentionally set improvised explosive device,” she added.
The person detained was described as an adult male. Those injured had non-life-threatening injuries.
