California Highway Patrol officers responded at 2:19 a.m. Tuesday to the westbound 101 and the Hollywood (170) Freeway junction with the Ventura (134) Freeway, near the Tujunga Avenue exit. They found that a black sedan, a gray SUV and a white semi-truck had been involved in the collision and were blocking some of the freeway lanes, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
The victims -- a male and female whose names and ages were not immediately available -- were pronounced dead the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel.
A Sigalert was issued for the closure of all lanes of the westbound 101 Freeway at the Tujunga exit, Kravig said.
Westbound freeway traffic was diverted until about 6 a.m., when two lanes were reopened. All lanes were reopened and the Sigalert was canceled at about 7:30 a.m., the CHP reported.
