26-year-old killed in Lomita hit-and-run identified by officials

A pedestrian who was killed in a hit-and-run in the Lomita area on New Year's Eve was identified Tuesday.

The man was struck by three vehicles while crossing the street about 11 p.m. Sunday on Western Avenue near 247th Place, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Elias Johnson, 26, who was homeless, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. No description was available of the vehicles.

A standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps solve a fatal hit-and-run.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the LAPD South Traffic Division at 323-421-2540, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
