Zunigaalvarez was also ordered to register as a sex offender.
The teen came forward in March 2021 to her family about the attacks, which happened in September of 2020, according to Lt. Phil McMullin of the Orange Police Department.
The girl told police the defendant would to try to force himself on top of her, grabbing her breast and groin over her clothes and that she kicked him to get him to back off, McMullin said. The defendant also would consistently make "inappropriate and sexual comments to her," McMullin said.
The defendant lived with the girl and her relatives in an apartment.
