The collision involving an A (Blue) Line train was reported about 8:25 a.m. at the intersection of Olive Street and Washington Boulevard, according to a Metro spokesman who said about 170 passengers were safely removed from the train.

The Los Angeles Fire Department reported three patients had minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.

"Metro extends its best wishes for a swift recovery to the injured passengers," according to a statement from the agency.

The collision and response prompted bus detours and up to delays on the A Line.
