Eight firefighters with the Orange County Fire Authority were injured in a crash in Irvine on Thursday night.
It happened around 6:50 p.m. on the northbound 241 Toll Road. The crews had finished a 12-hour shift tackling the Airport Fire, according to Chief Brian Fennessy during a press conference on Friday.
A car in front of a transport truck reportedly swerved to avoid a ladder in the road, but Fenessy could not confirm that. The transport truck swerved and rolled before slamming into the right-hand guard rail.

Six of the firefighters were reported to be in moderate to critical condition. Two firefighters had minor injuries. Fennessy said during a press conference on Friday morning they were taken to Hoag Medical Center where they were treated and released on Thursday night.
"The six firefighters taken to the trauma centers are still on the hospital with varying statuses ranging from stable to critical," Fennessy said.
The two firefighters at OC Global Medical Center are said to still be in critical condition. Another firefighter is in critical but stable condition in the ICU while another firefighter is not stable.
After the crash, a SIG Alert was issued by CHP on the northbound lane. The area was closed for five hours, according to KCAL News.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
