Emergency crews responded to the La Brea Tar Pits Tuesday afternoon after a security guard discovered eight teenagers with an "altered level of consciousness."
The call came at 12:45 p.m., according to LAFD’s Brian Humphrey. The teens, who were at the Tar Pits on a field trip, reportedly became disoriented after ingesting cannabis edibles.
All eight teens were transported to nearby hospitals in fair condition, Humphrey said. He added that all teens were breathing on their own and some were semi-conscious.
