Each year, hundreds of teens and young women apply for spots on the seven-member court, which attends dozens of community events leading up to the annual Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game. The court members serve as ambassadors for the local community and the Tournament of Roses organization.

"We're looking for applicants who bring diverse strengths and perspectives -- whether they're natural public speakers, youth leaders, academic stars or involved in their community and school," organizers said in a statement.

Applicants displaced by the Eaton Fire who now live outside the area may still apply, as long as they attend a school within the eligible boundaries. Organizers say they're committed to giving qualified students a chance to join the Rose Court and recognize the strength it takes to move forward after such a loss.

Applicants must identify as female between 17 and 21 years old, reside within the Pasadena Area Community College District and have at least a 2.0 grade-point average during the current and previous academic year. Applicants must be either a senior in high school or enrolled as a full-time student at any school or college within the Pasadena Area Community College District.

Members of the court all receive a $7,500 educational scholarship.

Additional information and the application are available online at tournamentofroses.com/about/rose-court-applications/.

Initial interviews will be conducted Sept. 6 or Sept. 8, with members of the court announced on Sept. 29. One of the seven will be named the 107th Rose Queen, with that announcement set for Oct. 28.
