The SEB deputies were dispatched at 9:34 a.m. to the 12000 block of Cedarvale Street "to assist (the) Norwalk Station with a barricaded armed suspect," according to a statement from the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
It was not immediately clear what led to the standoff or what the suspect was armed with.
Special Enforcement Bureau personnel took command of the situation and a crisis negotiation team was attempting to make contact with the suspect.
"The surrounding homes have been evacuated for the safety of the residents," according to the sheriff's department.
