A project that’s been years in the making for the Armenian American community is entering its final phase in Glendale. It’s called the Armenian American Museum.

The Armenian Genocide Centennial Committee formed in Los Angeles in 2012 to prepare for the 100 year remembrance in 2015. That effort led to a massive March for Justice and a long term vision to build something for future generations.

Berdj Karapetyan told KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian the goal was never just to build a museum, but to create a space for culture, education, and connection across generations. Construction is ongoing and moving toward completion this year.

“We will continue finishing the first floor sometime late summer. And then we will start the work on the 2nd floor where the exhibitions are going to go,” he said.

Every design choice inside has a meaning, even the structure itself. The goal is to build a place that connects culture, community and future generations.
