A 12-year-old girl narrowly escaped a dangerous situation Wednesday morning in Corona, by running to a nearby bus on her way to school, police said.
Her alleged attacker, Carlos Martinez, was allegedly wearing women's clothing when he approached her and shoved her down with his bike, Corona Police said in a statement, adding that she was able to get away by running to a nearby school bus after he stripped off his clothing.
Police said the 41-year-old was arrested the same day after a concerned citizen saw him riding a bike naked in the 2100 block of W. Ontario Avenue and flagged down a CPD officer.
Upon his arrest, officers learned that Martinez had allegedly assaulted the young girl earlier that morning.
Martinez was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape of a minor and assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held on $50,000 bail at the Robert Presley Detention Center.
