Average L.A. County gas price drops again, breaking record for largest decrease in two years

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — The average price of a gallon of self-serve, regular gasoline in Los Angeles County recorded it's largest drop in price since April 2020 on Saturday, dipping below $6 for the first time since March 21.

The average price dropped two cents to $5.999. The drop follows on the heels of back-to-back price decreases of 1.9 cents, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

Gas per gallon has dropped 7.1 cents over the past seven days following a 32-day streak of straight increases totaly $1.283. It is 7.1 cents less than a week ago, but still $1.071 higher than one month ago, and $2.045 higher than a year ago.

The California state average, according to AAA, is now at $5.864 per gallon of regular, unleaded gasoline.
