A school security guard is under fire for allegedly watching and laughing as one girl beat up another girl inside a bathroom at Baldwin Park High.
The bald man seen in the still shot is reported to be the security guard, and the 16-year-old victim's mother Lupe, told KNX News reporter Emily Valdez, "This person didn't care about the incident. He was just watching how they were beating up my daughter."
The family's attorney, Brian Claypool, said they are suing Baldwin Park Unified School District "because their security guard facilitated a fight that took place in the girls' bathroom on October 18 and actually watched the fight take place and did nothing to intervene to protect my client who was pummeled during the fight."
The school district told KNX News that students' safety is their first priority, but they can't comment on any pending litigation.
According to Claypool, while last they heard, the security guard in question was on paid administrative leave, there are rumors that he's been transferred to another school.
The lawsuit claims 'negligent hiring, training, and supervision' on the part of the school district.
