Long Beach's Belmont Shore neighborhood has seen a sudden spike in violence, including two murders in just two weeks along Second Street - an area known for its nightlife.
As KNX News' Pete Demetriou reports, both of the killings happened because of arguments with late-night customers who came into the area early and stayed way too late.
One local says, "You see people just stumbling drunk, get in the car, and drive off. There's never any DUI enforcement down here. And when they do have an issue, like what took place, which is unfortunate, they have cops out here for a couple of days and nothing else."

The locals seem to agree that more police on weekends would be helpful, and some feel that if that doesn't work, the city should consider tighter operating hours for bars.

Residents are calling for Long Beach council members visit the area on the weekend to get a better idea of what's going on.
