A brush fire that erupted Thursday just north of San Jacinto blackened roughly five acres along the boundary of the San Bernardino National Forest before Cal Fire aircraft crews stopped it.
The blaze was reported just after 11 a.m. in the area of Gilman Hot Springs and Soboba roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Flames were moving uphill at a moderate rate, but not threatening homes or other structures.

Three Cal Fire air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter based at Hemet-Ryan Airport less than 10 miles to the west were summoned and promptly initiated runs on the brusher, halting its advance by noon.
All tankers cleared the area minutes later.
One firefighter suffered a minor knee injury while on the fire lines. He was taken to Hemet Valley Medical Center for treatment.
Crews established tentative containment lines around the fire, and full containment was expected by 2 p.m., according to reports from the scene.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
