LAPD Chief of Detectives Alan Hamilton said police started looking for the teenager after his family said he didn't come home this past weekend after visiting an acquaintance in Lancaster.
“The family was aware of his destination, and I'm gonna kind of leave it at that as part of the investigation,” Hamilton said. “We're currently establishing a timeline of the travels of the subject, and that timeline is not complete.”
The body was found in the area of North Harbor Boulevard and West Gonzalez Road, according to City News Service.
Hamilton said that officers have quite a bit of information but can not release it yet.
