BURBANK, Calif. (KNX) — Burbank police want to find the gunmen responsible for a double shooting that killed one person, the department said Wednesday.
Detectives are investigating the two Monday morning incidents, the first of which police said occurred around 7:15 a.m. in the 2800 block of North Brighton Street. Officers located a man with significant injuries in the front yard of a home.
At nearly the same time, police also responded to a shooting on Brighton Street, where officers found a second man shot — a block away in the 2800 block of North Lincoln Street. Officers said a woman flagged them down and told them a man inside her home had been shot.
The man, suffering from at least one gunshot wound, died at the scene. Investigators did not identify him, pending identification by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office and notification of his family.
In the three days since the shooting, police say investigators have spoken to witnesses, searched the area for evidence, and collected surveillance video. Two people believed to be involved in the shooting, who fled the scene before officers arrived, have been located and interviewed, Burbank police said. The gun investigators believe may have been used in the shooting was also recovered.
"This was not a random act and investigators believe all people involved knew each other," Burbank police said.
No arrests have been made. Police said they are still working to identify a motive and the circumstances that led to the shooting.
Anyone with information about the shooting can contact Burbank police's Investigations Division at (818) 238-3210.
