Five Buss family siblings say they are now moving forward with plans to sell their remaining stake in the Lakers, despite opposition from current team governor and CEO Jeanie Buss.
In a statement to ESPN, the siblings said, "Johnny, Jimmy, Janie, Joey and Jesse have made the decision to sell the family's remaining stake, and we remain united in that decision. We intend to move forward thoughtfully, respectfully, and through the appropriate process."
The siblings also expressed confidence in Bob Iger and Josh Kushner, saying they believe the two understand what the Lakers mean to L.A. and will honor the legacy of their late father, Jerry Buss.
On Monday, the siblings said they agreed to sell their remaining 17.8% stake in the Lakers to Iger and Kushner.
But in a letter obtained by CNBC, a lawyer for Jeanie Buss said that Jeanie did not agree to sell the team and that any vote for selling is “void.”
