The alleged vehicle attack took place around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday near Beverly Boulevard and Western Avenue, where police officers were gathered along with protesters engaged in the ongoing demonstration against the Trump administration's immigration enforcement raids.
The driver fled from police onto the Harbor (110), Glenn Anderson (105) and San Diego (405) freeways, driving over 100 mph at times. California Highway Patrol officers joined the chase before the vehicle exited the freeway and drove on surface streets in the South Bay area, driving northbound on Crenshaw Avenue in Torrance before heading into South Los Angeles, with officers racing after.
The vehicle appeared to lose a tire around Eighth Avenue in the Inglewood area and the driver jumped out of the car and ran from police, KTLA5 reported.
Officers caught up to him and arrested the driver at about 11:20 p.m. on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Three passengers were also taken into custody, according to multiple media reports.
