From major concerts and baseball to free beach movies and some very specific food festivals, here are some things happening around Los Angeles and Orange County this weekend.
1. BEACH MOVIE NIGHT: “ELF”
Christmas is coming a few months early to the beach.
LA County’s Beach Movie Nights series is showing “Elf” Friday night on the sand at Dockweiler Youth Center.
The movie begins at 8 p.m. Admission is free and no ticket is required, although RSVPs are encouraged. Seating is festival style and first come, first served, so bring a blanket or low back beach chair. Jackets are also a good idea because it can get cold by the ocean at night.

2. CELEBRATING GUSTAVO AT THE BOWL
The Hollywood Bowl is celebrating Gustavo Dudamel with three nights of music.
Friday’s Gustavo’s Fiesta brings Dudamel together with Los Tigres del Norte, Lila Downs, Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles, Silvia Perez Cruz, La Sonora Dinamita and Los Panchos.
Then Saturday, Dudamel conducts the LA Phil and YOLA for their performance with the Foo Fighters.

3. NE YO AND AKON

4. DODGERS VS. PIRATES
The Dodgers are home all weekend for a three game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Friday night comes with a Luka Dončić bobblehead giveaway. Saturday features a Shohei Ohtani “Starter Series” bobblehead, and Sunday is Kids Run the Bases day.

10. LA HABRA CORN FESTIVAL
Come for the corn, stay for the parade.
The 77th annual La Habra Corn Festival runs all weekend with food, carnival rides, shopping and live entertainment.
Saturday’s parade begins at 9:30 a.m. along La Habra Boulevard.
Festival hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

11. PLUM FESTIVAL
Corn is not the only produce getting its own celebration this weekend.
Old World Village in Huntington Beach celebrates its 30th Plum Fest with a special plum menu, plum cake, plum crepes, plum inspired drinks and live German music.

12. LA KIDS BOOK FESTIVAL
The fourth annual LA Kids Book Festival takes over West Hollywood Park Sunday.
The free festival celebrates children’s books, bilingualism, multicultural stories and representation, with authors, readings, performances, drawing demonstrations and activities for kids.
