Search warrants were served at Huntington Park City Hall on Wednesday in connection with a public corruption investigation.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office executed the warrants as part of an investigation into the potential misuse of millions of dollars allocated to build an aquatic center at Salt Lake Park, according to a press release by the D.A.'s office.

Vice Mayor Arturo Flores told KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian he wasn’t surprised by the search warrant.

“The reason why I wasn't surprised is because I want to say last year around September, I started looking into the pool project…because residents from the city kept asking about the progress of the pool project, the money that had been expelled,” he said. “And, they wanted answers to why the pool project hadn't finished or wasn't being completed.

He added that he made it public three weeks ago that he would request the project be investigated.

“And last week, [I] actually was served with a recall paperwork,” he said.

Warrants were served at 11 locations, including the homes of Mayor Karina Macias, Councilmember Eddie Martinez, City Manager Ricardo Reyes, and three former city officials.

“My office is committed to ensuring that public officials uphold the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and transparency," D.A. Nathan Hochman said in a statement. “When concerns arise about the use of public funds or the actions of those in office, it is our duty to investigate thoroughly and protect the public’s trust."
