
An Amtrak train slammed into a truck at a crossing in Ventura County, injuring five people and prompting closures.
It happened in Somis at SR-118 at Sand Cyn Road around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to California Highway Patrol.
Crews with Ventura County Fire Department evacuated the 95 passengers on board the train. Five people were taken to the hospital. Four had minor injuries and one had minor to moderate injuries.
SR 118 between Balcom Canyon Rd and SR 34 was closed for hours as officials worked to remove the semi. SR-118 reopened around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The crash is under investigation.
