A 6 inch gas line and water main were struck during construction near Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday night.

Officials with SoCalGas say the break happened around 9:10 p.m. near Sepulveda Blvd. and 96th. This prompted the closure of the northbound lanes of Sepulveda Blvd. at Imperial Highway, as well as the eastbound and westbound lanes on 96th St., according to LAFD.

Crews made temporary repairs overnight, and the gas leak was stopped around 2 a.m.

SoCalGas says the damage was caused by outside utility work, not by its own crews.

A few customers are still without gas service.
