FULLERTON, Calif. (KNX) — California State University Fullerton will begin its spring semester remotely, along with eight other CSU campuses, University President Fram Virjee said in a statement.

"In light of the increasing spread of the Omicron variant in Orange County and California...we will begin our spring semester by delivering our courses remotely for the first two weeks of the semester (January 22-February 6)," Virjee said.

"Temporarily delaying face-to-face instruction was not what we hoped for, but we believe that this decision allows us to prioritize health and safety without sacrificing academic quality and access."

The CSUF campus will remain open during the two-week period and both students and employees will be able to access in-person services, Virjee added.

To return to campus, all eligible students and unrepresented employees will have to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination by Feb. 7.

"Together, we will continue to persevere and prevail, and I look forward to seeing you all in-person on campus again soon," Virjee said, concluding his letter.

CSUF is one of nine California State Universities to announce remote learning, including CSU L.A. and CSU Long Beach.
