Two sheriff's deputies suffered sore necks and backs when a driver believed under the influence of drugs rear-ended their patrol SUV with a pickup in Palmdale while they were taking two juveniles to the station, authorities said Monday.

The crash occurred at about 9:20 p.m. Sunday on westbound Palmdale Boulevard just east of 15th Street East, sheriff's Lt. S. Sgrignoli told City News Service.
The two juveniles were checked out at a hospital as a precaution, he said.
The deputies were slowing down in traffic when the white pickup rear- ended their patrol SUV, Sgrignoli said.
Video from the scene showed deputies administering a field sobriety test to the man.
