RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KNX) — Law enforcement in Riverside County have sought the public’s assistance in identifying the body of a woman found 26 years ago.

On Jan. 27, 1996, homicide investigators responded to a report of a body found near Gillman Springs Road and Highway 60 in Beaumont. Detectives determined the dead woman found was killed about 20 feet south of the eastbound lane of Highway 60 the same day.

Nearly three decades later, police have been unsuccessful in identifying her.

An autopsy conducted at the time identified a surgical scar on the woman’s abdomen believed to be from a c-section procedure. Investigators believe she may have had at least one child.

The body was found adorned with several pieces of distinctive gold jewelry as well. Riverside homicide investigators have released photos of the jewelry in hopes someone may recognize them.
